inOverheard a barista in Denver say they judge people by their coffee order
Oh man, that's too funny. I read this article a while back about how baristas have these secret codes for drinks that basically read your whole life story. A plain black coffee is a "no nonsense" person, but a super complicated custom order is a "high maintenance" alert. It's wild how a simple choice becomes a personality test. I always get a latte, so I guess I'm boring and safe in their eyes.

inOverheard a guy at the lumber yard telling his buddy his chimney 'never needs cleaning' because he burns 'good wood'. I had to bite my tongue.
So he thinks "good wood" means no creosote at all? What does he think that black, tarry gunk in his chimney IS, if not from burning wood? Even perfectly seasoned hardwood still makes creosote, it just makes less of it. That buildup is a serious fire hazard waiting to happen.

inThe week my town's compost program actually worked
My buddy over in the west end had the same thing with his recycling. His blue bin was basically a permanent yard decoration for like half a year. Then out of nowhere, the truck came two weeks in a row. He said it felt like a weird little victory just seeing it empty on the curb. Makes you wonder what finally got fixed behind the scenes.

inAppreciation post: A client's old Polaroid SX-70 taught me a lesson about patience
Lol, that's the best kind of fix. I once spent a whole afternoon trying to figure out why a faucet had no pressure, only to find a single pebble stuck in the aerator. Felt like a total genius and a total idiot at the same time.

inThe moment my cordless drill battery died mid-hanger in a crawl space
Honestly, that's why my tool bag sounds like a maraca with all the extra batteries rolling around. Taping one to your belt seems smart until you need to actually move. Guess we all learn the hard way.
