Heard a guy at the local diner say the moon landing was filmed in Arizona, so I checked the old footage myself.

I pulled up the Apollo 11 video and slowed it down to look at the flag. The way it moves in that vacuum is weird, but then I found a NASA paper from 1969 explaining the special horizontal rod they used. That one detail shut down the whole 'no wind in space' argument for me. Has anyone else found a single fact that actually changed their mind on a big theory?

TIL I'm the only one in my shop who still uses a spoke wrench for every wheel.

Everyone else switched to a tension meter years ago, but I find the wrench gives me a better feel for the whole build. I just finished a set of Velocity Blunt 35s for a customer and the lateral runout was under 0.5mm. Am I just being stubborn, or does anyone else think the old way still has its place?

Spent a whole day chasing a ghost signal in a new build

Got called out to a big new house in the suburbs last week for a weak signal on one line. The homeowner said it kept cutting out. I checked the wall plate, the splitter in the garage, even the drop from the pole. Everything looked fine, but the meter showed a huge loss. I must have re-run the test five times. Turns out, the builder had run the coax right next to a main power line for about twenty feet inside the wall. The interference was killing it. I had to fish a whole new line through an interior wall to get away from the power, which took me from 9 AM to almost 5 PM. Has anyone else run into this with new construction where they bundle everything together?

Visited a big camera show in Chicago and the lack of repair info was wild

I saw a whole row of vintage dealers with tables full of untested gear, and not one of them could tell me the last time the shutters were serviced. It feels like the collector market is pushing repair work to the side. How do you guys handle customers who buy from these places and then bring you a box of problems?

I told him I render mine down for tallow and he was shocked, said he'd never thought of that. How many of you save your trimmings versus just tossing them?

Why does nobody talk about the visa paperwork black hole in Lisbon?

Spent a full week thinking I had everything for my D7, but they wanted a notarized copy of a lease I signed digitally... which took 3 more weeks to sort. Has anyone else hit a wall with digital documents for residency?

I know most artists use graphics tablets (seriously, everyone has one), but I find clicking more precise for pixel grids. It's a small win that made my day.

Staring at a simmering pot for hours led me to this stock trick

I used to hate making chicken stock because it took all day. Now, I start it late at night and let it cook on low heat overnight. Waking up to a finished pot is awesome, and the taste is really deep. Just be sure your stove can handle long cooks safely, lmao.
