I had a customer's new fridge flood their kitchen in Denver because the installer didn't check the water line.

I was on a call for a noisy compressor, but when I pulled it out, I saw the plastic water line for the ice maker had been kinked and crushed against the wall by the install crew, which caused a slow leak that ruined the hardwood floor over two weeks, so now I always do a full leak check on every job, even if it's not the main complaint. Do you think we should charge extra for that kind of safety check, or is it just part of the service?

Seems like a bit much for every single job...

Nah, it's not too much at all. You see these places asking for five rounds of interviews plus a homework project. That's crazy. I had a friend do a full week's work for free as a "test". They just took his ideas and ghosted him. Companies forget our time has value too.

Honestly, wouldn't that extra check just save you from a huge headache later?
