Dielectric grease is just for weatherproofing electrical connections, but you don't use it on water lines like that - it can actually make the seal slip.

I wonder if "actually make the seal slip" is a bit overblown, though. I've used dielectric grease on a few different rubber gaskets and never had one slide out of place. It might be one of those things where if you glob it on thick it could be a problem, but a thin layer probably isn't going to cause a disaster.
