Realized my mosquito problem was a me problem after 2 summers of fighting it
I spent like 18 months buying bug sprays, torches, citronella candles, even one of those fancy propane traps. Nothing worked. Then my neighbor casually mentioned I had a birdbath and a clogged gutter both holding water. Drained them both last August and the difference was NIGHT and DAY. Has anyone else found that the solution was way simpler than all the stuff you buy?

yeah but that birdbath thing is actually not quite right... mosquitoes need standing water for like 7-10 days to fully hatch, so if you're dumping it every week you're probably fine. still a good idea to get rid of it though, less hassle.

It's kind of a relief to hear that, because I've been stressing about my birdbath all summer. I've been dumping it every Saturday so I guess I'm in the clear, but the whole mosquito thing is just so annoying to worry about. Good to know I can maybe relax a little on that one.

Oh gosh, that reminds me - I heard if you put a few drops of dish soap in the water it breaks the surface tension and the mosquitoes can't land on it to lay eggs!
