My main band saw blade snapped right in the middle of a beef rib primal last Friday.
I was working on a full side from a local farm, and the blade just gave out with a loud pop. I had to stop everything, put on a new blade, and finish the cut by hand, which took an extra twenty minutes. What's the longest you've had a good blade last before something like that happens?

Ever have a blade snap at the exact worst possible moment? That's like the universe saying your day was going too smoothly... I swear they wait for the thickest, most expensive cut to just give up. My record was a blade that lasted maybe three projects before it quit on some maple.

My last one snapped on some walnut.

What made you change your mind? I used to think snapping was just bad luck, but after seeing it happen on walnut a few times, I'm starting to wonder.

Seriously, it's just a blade snapping. Laura_wilson had it happen on walnut too, it's not that deep.
