Wasted $75 on a 'universal' camp stove fuel adapter
I bought this adapter online that said it would let my old Coleman stove run on the newer propane bottles. It looked good in the pictures. I tried it on a trip in the Redwoods last fall, and it leaked fuel right at the connection. I had to shut it off fast and just eat cold food for two days. Has anyone found a safe adapter that actually works, or should I just get a new stove?

My old Coleman runs fine with a $10 brass adapter.

That "leaked fuel right at the connection" part is a real gut punch. I've been there with a bad adapter, and it totally ruins a trip. I ended up just buying a new stove after my second try failed. The old ones are great until you can't trust the gear.

Yeah, that's rough. I saw @ryan_hart38 mention a cheap brass one, and honestly that's the move. I've had the same brass adapter for years, no leaks, no fuss. Those fancy universal ones always seem to have bad seals or thin gaskets. I'd trust a simple piece of brass over some multi-fit plastic thing any day. Just get the basic part and keep the old stove running.
