Tried networking events vs cold LinkedIn messages for 3 months straight

I went to 8 local meetups in Austin and got exactly zero leads from them. Meanwhile, sending 5 personalized LinkedIn messages a day got me 2 solid interviews and a $500 side project in the same time. Has cold outreach worked better for anyone else than in-person stuff?

Did you try different types of meetups or just the same ones?

Buddy of mine got a whole job off a cold DM, turns out better than any mixer.

@angela728 is right, guess my awkward small talk skills are better suited for a keyboard than a room full of strangers.
