Can we talk about people who don't pre-fill their nail holes before taping...

Watched a guy at a jobsite in Austin last Tuesday try to tape right over a dozen unfilled nail pops and then act surprised when the mud cracked two days later, has anyone else dealt with this kind of laziness messing up your finish work?

Started carrying a nail set after fixing 15 pops on one wall last month.

That nail set and spackle idea seemed like overkill until I had to fix 12 pops on a single wall myself. Now I grab them before every walkthrough too.

Texas humidity makes it worse too. I started carrying a $4 nail set and a tube of spackle in my pouch, just fill them on the spot before the taper even gets there. Saves me from having to come back and sand their mess.

Preaching to the choir on the humidity making it worse. My trick was to start bringing a small tub of lightweight spackle and a cheap plastic putty knife with me on the first walkthrough. Hang a board, give it a quick tap, and if it pops I just fill it right then before the tapers even see it. It saves me the headache of getting a call a week later to come sand down a big glob they left behind. A little bit of prevention goes a long way on a job site.
