Had to pick between a $300 SEO audit tool or a $30 plugin bundle

Last Tuesday I was staring at my budget and had to decide between getting Screaming Frog or just buying a cheap plugin that does basic meta tags. I went with the plugin because it was cheaper and man, I missed spotting 14 broken redirects that the cheap tool just wouldnt find. Any of you regret cheaping out on a tool for SEO work?

Bought a $15 SEO book once. Taught me how to waste time.

Most of those books just repeat the same free advice you can find with a simple Google search.

Pretty sure that $15 could've bought you a pizza and a movie instead. At least that would've been a guaranteed good time. Most of these SEO books feel like they're written by someone who's never actually tried to rank a site for anything competitive. They just repackage the same basic keyword research and backlink tips that are already outdated. The real trick is figuring out which free advice is actually worth following, not paying someone to tell you the same thing with fancier cover art.
