My old boss in Denver always said to ignore meta descriptions because 'Google rewrites them anyway', but after testing it for a month, my click-through rate dropped by 15% on pages where I left them blank.
Has anyone else actually seen a measurable difference when they write custom ones versus letting Google auto-generate?
Bad advice happens all the time though. People mess up, bosses give weird tips, it's just part of working. Unless it was actually harmful, maybe it's not worth getting that upset over.
